DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrival Ho Chi Minh City. Airport Pick Up.
Today you will land at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, met up with the tour guide, driver of Indochina Leisure Travel and transferred to the hotel in Ho Chi Minh City centre. Overnight at the hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Tour and Cu Chi Tunnel. (B, L)
8.00am Pick-up at your hotel, you enjoy a half day excursion to the famous Cu Chi tunnels. This network of tunnels, which stretched for over 200km, became legendary during the 1960s.
The Cu Chi tunnels played a vital part in the U.S.-Vietnam War in that they allowed the Viet Cong to control a large rural area only 30 to 40 km from former Saigon. At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The network, parts of which were several levels deep, included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centre and kitchens.
Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and feel of what underground life during the war must have been like. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there is even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range.
Lunch is arranged at the local restaurant.
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is the biggest and most crowned city of Vietnam, warm year round and hospitable people. This afternoon we visit the bustling Ben Thanh Market - a fantastic place for bargains of every kind! There are several interesting sights in Saigon . The War Remnants Museum has a wealth of images from the wars, the most moving being a gallery entitled Requiem which is dedicated to Vietnamese and foreign journalists and photographers who perished during the French and American conflicts. The Reunification Palace was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until April 30, 1975 when the North Vietnamese tanks came crashing through the front gates, bringing the U.S.-Vietnam War to a dramatic end. Close to the Palace some of the best examples of French colonial architecture are represented in the forms of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Notre Dame Cathedral was built between 1877 and 1883, and the stones used to create it were exported in its entirety from France. Next to the cathedral stands the Central Post Office, finished in 1891. It is another fine example of French architecture and is Vietnam s largest post office. For all of its French colonial history, Ho Chi Minh City is by far Vietnam s most modern city. It has numerous shopping malls, cinemas, discotheques and a bewildering number of bars. Return to hotel for free. Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 3: Flight Ho Chi Minh City - Danang. Land transfer to Hoian. (B)

My Son, considered to be in the same league as some of Southeast Asia s greatest archaeological sites, including Angkor in Cambodia, Bagan in Myanmar, Ayutthaya in Thailand and Borobudur in Indonesia. These towers and sanctuaries was built from the 7 to 13 centuries. After lunch at local restaurant, it is light excursion to go around tiny town of Hoi An for city tour: 400 years old Japanese Bridge, 300 years old Chinese temple, 200 years old Vietnamese former merchants house. Overnight stay in Hoian.
Day 5: Danang City Tour. Transfer Danang - Hue. (B, L)
Before leaving Danang, visit the Cham Museum, which features a fine collection of open air sandstone carvings. Stop at Vietnam’s East Sea, made famous in the American TV series of the same name. It stretches for many miles north and south of the Marble Mountains. The Marble Mountains surrounding the area are five stone hillocks - once islands made of marble - and each is said to represent one of the five elements of the universe. There are many natural caves in which Buddhist sanctuaries have been built over the centuries. Afterwards, journey south past the Hai Van Pass and Land Co, over a spur of the Truong Son Mountain Range that juts into the Vietnam’s East Sea, with spectacular views along the way. Check in hotel & overnight in Hue.
