OPTION 1- NATIONAL MUSEUM, ROYAL PALACE, SILVER PAGODA, TOUL SLENG (NO MEAL)
Phnom Penh is nowadays a bustling city and its ochre-colored colonial buildings, bustling squares, trendy cafés, and frangipani-lined boulevards create an atmosphere that is unlike any other city in Southeast Asia. Set out on a city tour to visit the National Museum, which houses Khmer art and sculptures from different periods of Cambodian history, and visit the Royal Palace. (Open from 8.00am to 10:30am and from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. Women should cover their shoulders and both men and women should wear skirts or shirts covering their knees). The palace was built in 1866 by the French for King Norodom and is also home to the Silver Pagoda, which received its name because its floor is made up of 5,329 silver tiles. The palace has been inhabited by kings at all times with the exception of the period when the radical Khmer Rouge party took control in 1975. Under its leader Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge seized power and declared ‘year zero’. Opt to learn more about these turbulent years when visiting the infamous Tuol Sleng Museum in the afternoon. Return to your hotel or to one of the riverside cafes or bars where you may want to take in the sunset.

OPTION 2 -ROYAL PALACE, SILVER PAGODA, TOULSLENG, AND KILLING FIELDS (NO MEAL)
Start the day with a visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, two of the most striking buildings in the capital and considered as some of the finest examples of Khmer architecture. They were initially constructed in 1866 by the French. The Royal Palace is home to the current King Sihamoni. The neighboring Silver Pagoda stands out in its own distinctive way. The floor consists of 5,329 solid silver tiles to which the building owes its name. Later, opt to take a journey through Cambodia’s more turbulent past. Under its leader Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge seized power and declared ‘year zero’. Opt to learn more about these turbulent years when visiting the infamous Tuol Sleng Museum in the afternoon. Then drive 17km from Phnom Penh town to visit the Cheung Ek which was made famous by the movie “The Killing Fields”. Nowadays, a large memorial has been built to commemorate the 17,000 victims who died here under the reign of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot. The remnants inside the memorial and the mass graves that dot the area remind you of the suffering of the victims. Besides the tragic past, you will also start to appreciate the tremendous courage of the Cambodian people to move on and rebuild their nation. Transfer back to your hotel or you may choose to stop off at one of the riverside cafes or bars to relax and enjoy the sunset.

OPTION 3- TONLE BATI AND PHNOM CHISOR FULL DAY TOUR (PICNIC LUNCH)
Located about 1 hour drive from Phnom Penh, Tonle Bati is a small lake that is a popular place for locals to spend their weekends. Small wooden platforms and huts dot the lake and function as shelter where Cambodian families prepare a picnic. However, during the weekdays the place is deserted and you will most likely have the area to yourself. The most noticeable feature is the 12th century temple named Ta Prohm. This beautifully conserved temple was built by King Jayavarman VII. Visit the temple upon arrival and walk through its hallways. Flowers and little shrines can be found around every corner. Partake in a blessing from a monk elder and donate some small money to light an incense stick. Continue to Phnom Chisor, which is situated a mere 20 minute drive away by car. Upon arrival enjoy a picnic lunch. Take some time to catch your breath before you climb the 461 steps to the top of the hill for a magnificent view. The temple there was built in the 11th century by King Suryavarman I. Its construction is made of laterite and bricks and is home to some carved sandstone lintels. Admire the views before you return and transfer back to Phnom Penh.

OPTION 4 -KAMPONG CHHNANG FULL DAY TOUR (PICNIC LUNCH)
Start the day with a transfer to a small provincial town located 1.5 hours north-west of Phnom Penh known as Kampong Chhnang, meaning “Port of Pottery”. It is famous for its beautiful landscape, iconic sugar palm trees that dot the landscape and where local villages produce pottery in the midst of the rice fields. The town is also home to one of the larger floating villages on the lake which is predominantly inhabited by Vietnamese traders, which you will visit upon arrival. Visit a local floating home and enjoy a drink with your host and learn about how life is lived on the water. Return to the mainland and transfer to Phnom Touch. Touch means small in Khmer and this tiny hill located near a modern pagoda offers stunning vistas over the Tonle Sap Lake. Enjoy a picnic lunch in this picturesque setting before heading over sandy roads and through paddy fields to the pottery villages. Learn how the community makes pottery the traditional way and observe how sugar is collected from the palm trees. Let your guide assist you with translating if you are interested to learn more about village life. Admire the beautiful surroundings once more before heading back to Phnom Penh mid afternoon.

OPTION 5-PHNOM TAMAO FULL DAY TOUR - WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTER (LUNCH)
Phnom Tamao is Cambodia’s foremost wildlife rescue center. It is located 45 minutes south-east of Phnom Penh and occupies a total space of about 1,200 hectares. It is home to the world’s largest captive collections of Pileated Gibbons and Malaysian Sun Bears. Other rare species such as Siamese Crocodiles and Greater Adjutant Storks also can be observed here. Meet with a local caretaker who will show you around the park. A large number of the animals found here are endangered species and many of them have been rescued out of the hands of poachers or from being held as pets. Phnom Tamao with its spacious grounds, large animal enclosures and excellent caretakers is a refreshing change from some of the lesser equipped and cramped zoos elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Phnom Tamao is a great outing, especially with kids. Elephants paint or play soccer on occasion in the park. Your guide will tell you all about the background of the animals and how they have been rescued. Lunch will be enjoyed in the park. Return to Phnom Penh by car.

OPTION 6 - KIRIROM NATIONAL PARK (LUNCH)
Depart this morning for a 2.5 hour drive to Kirirom National Park. The park is situated in Kampong Speu province and was the first to receive national park status in Cambodia. You will follow Highway 4 all the way until you reach the Kirirom junction from where the road becomes slightly bumpier. Take a turn first towards Chambok community and explore one of Cambodia’s first community based tourism projects. Enjoy a 30 minute trek through the forest to the Chambok waterfall. Continue to Kirirom Resort where lunch will be served. You will pass through the gate of Kirirom and drive all the way up to the top to admire the views of the surrounding forest and mountain ranges at 675 meters above sea level. Take a stroll along some of the many trails towards the lake (20 mins). The pine forest is of particular interest and offers a relaxing walk and there are numerous streams and rapids in the park to be visited as well. Return to Phnom Penh mid afternoon after a refreshing day in the national park.

OPTION 7 - PHNOM CHISOR AND PHNOM DA (LUNCH)
Depart in the morning from Phnom Penh and transfer 1.5 hours south of Phnom Penh to Phnom Chisor. Upon arrival at Phnom Chisor you will climb the 461 steps to the top of the hill for a magnificent view. The temple there was built in the 11th century by King Suryavarman I. It is made of laterite and bricks and carved sandstone lintels. Explore the temple and admire the views before returning to the bottom. Take a short break before you continue by car to Takeo. Enjoy lunch upon arrival in Takeo at a local restaurant then board a rustic boat. Cruise past pretty villages and rural scenery towards Phnom Da and enjoy a visit to the Angkor Borei temples on the way. The earliest archaeological evidence found at Angkor Borei dates back to the 5th century. Continue to Phnom Da where upon arrival you climb the hill and admire the 11th century temple built on top. The views are memorable and provide a lovely setting in the late afternoon light. Return to Phnom Penh by private vehicle.

OPTION 8 - BIKING TO PHNOM UDONG (LUNCH)
Depart Phnom Penh by bike to Udong which functioned as the capital of Cambodia between 1618 and 1866 and is home to impressive Khmer architecture that resembles the glory days of Cambodia. Start with a short transfer to Preak Phnov a local market located 12km north of Phnom Penh. Start cycling from the busy market and observe the bustling trade that is part of the daily life. Continue cycling over dikes, through beautiful countryside, passing pagodas and traditional houses. Upon arrival at Udong climb the main stairway that leads to an impressive stupa from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the surroundings of Udong and continue to the small handicraft village of Koh Chen. The artisans in this village produce all kinds of silverware. Continue to the riverside town of Kampong Tralach by bicycle or private vehicle and discover a magnificent pagoda well hidden in Cambodia’s rural hinterland and surrounded by local villagers. Visit the 100 year old pagoda and admire the original paintings before returning to Phnom Penh by private vehicle. (Maximum of 30 km cycling)

OPTION 9 - BIKING KOH DACH - A MEKONG ISLAND (PICNIC LUNCH)
Visit Koh Dach, an island in the Mekong located only a short boat transfer from Phnom Penh. Start cycling around the island which is home to luscious trees and fruit plantations. As you cycle, observe the daily activities of the local community. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the midst of wonderful scenery and connect more closely with rural Cambodian life. Continue cycling through villages and answer the many warm greetings from local children. Tea, fresh fruit and refreshments are served at a local traditional wooden house. The house owner has lived with his family on this island for over 40 years and is eager to share his life stories with you. He has devoted his life to the children of the island and is now director of the local school. Visit the local school and learn more about the education standards in Cambodia. Meet some of the local children (if your visit is on a weekday) and learn more about their ambitions in life. Return to Phnom Penh by boat and observe the busy riverfront of Phnom Penh with its many restaurants, pagodas and views of the Royal Palace before you disembark and return to your hotel. OPTION 10 - BIKING KAMPONG THOM - SAMBOR PREI KUK (PICNIC LUNCH)
Start early by bicycle from Kampong Thom and follow rural trails that lead through picturesque landscapes. The two hour bike ride passes beautiful paddy fields, local villages and you will be met along the way by warm smiles from the friendly local villagers. Reach the temples and meet your local community guide. Sambor Prei Kuk is Cambodia’s oldest temple site dating back to the 6th century. The site remains remarkably well preserved. Continue to cycle along quiet, shady trails from one temple group to another. The 8km loop will take you back in time and make you feel like an explorer. Stop en route to get more background info of the temples and settle for a picnic lunch at a local bamboo hut beside a river. Opt to return to Kampong Thom by private vehicle or choose to cycle back by an alternative route. (Maximum of 36 km cycling)

OPTION 11 - RIVER CRUISE FROM OUDONG TO PHNOM PENH (CATERED LUNCH)
This morning depart for the one hour drive to Oudong which functioned as the former capital of Cambodia between the early 17th century and late 19th century. Nowadays Oudong still holds great significance as the three hills are home to various stupas containing the remains of several former Khmer Kings. Upon arrival, climb up the main stairway, over 500 steps, leading to the newest of the temples at the top of the hill. Admire the sweeping views of the surrounding countryside before continuing to the riverside town of Kampong Tralach. Visit a pagoda hidden in between trees and surrounded by local villages. Continue to your private boat where a catered lunch is set up. Cruise the Tonle Sap River downstream towards Phnom Penh while enjoying lunch as well as the sights and sounds of riverlife. Arrive mid to late afternoon in Phnom Penh where you disembark and transfer back to your hotel.
